Haruhi Ep. 12: The Concert

I don't know exactly what it is about the school concert in episode 12 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya but…whenever I watch it, it never fails to send a shiver down my spine and put a huge grin on my face.

I don't think it quite has the same effect with YouTube's low resolution and bitrate but check it out;

It's hard to pin down what I love so much about this clip but I think the following things all factor into it…

The Most Powerful Person in the World

Thuyen Nguyen, tired of the negative representation of video games in the media recently (and I can relate to that feeling), decided to create the below video in response; "a love letter to video games".

I don't know how non-gamers will take to the video but personally, having played the majority of those games, it certainly hits a sweet spot with me!

More information on the video, and a link to a HQ download version, are available on Thuyen's site.

Joost Beta Invites

Joost Beta Tester

I've been a closed beta tester for the P2P streaming video/TV application Joost since back in February. In March I was given a few invites that I passed out to close friends and family. The response to the application from my invitees was generally good though I think we all could agree it needed some more channels (and still does). Nevertheless, there's some good content on there and I'm sure there will be a lot more available when Joost exits the beta phase and is available for public access.

Joost is now allowing existing beta testers to invite a lot more people to try it out so if you haven't had an invite for it yet and would like one just email me (if you know my address) or use the contact me form on this site. All I need from you is an email address for the invite to be sent to.

CoH/V Binds Updated

City of Heroes Logo

I had a chance to add a few more of the missing binds to my binds/macros article page (four in total). This means there are currently bind guides/explanations for the following:

I'll continue adding to the list whenever I can, once my planned list is finished (you can see it on the binds page) I'll see what else might be worth adding. If you have any requests on binds/explanations for me to cover feel free to ask!

Red Tango

Here's a very cool animation I found the other day (can't recall how exactly…). It reminds me of Cats Don't Dance (great film!). Strange thing, I only found out later that it was animated by Scotty Arsenault, who used to do a web comic I read called Commander Kitty. The internet is a small place at times, eh? ;)

I'm back! Jeez, that was a long break. o.O

I have just one thing to say…BT suck

Allow me to explain just how much BT suck;

Offline…

Just a quick post to say the blog may be devoid of updates for a short while as I'm in the process of moving and my new place is currently without broadband or a phone line.

I hope to be back online and posting again soon!

Duke Nukem Forever

As some of you game fans out there have no doubt seen already (since it's appeared on every gaming blog I've seen this weekend) there has been a new screenshot for Duke Nukem Forever released recently.

MGS Codec Ringtone

Last weekend I changed the ringtone on my Nokia 6600 to the Metal Gear Solid Codec call sound. Doesn't sound too out of place as a ringtone to people who don't know the game but it certainly gets a reaction from those who do. :)

Here's the MGS Codec Call Ringtone wave file I made if you'd like a copy for yourself. It's GSM encoded, mono, 22kHz. It's had the volume bumped up since it was coming out much too quiet to start with. Also, I've cut the end of it slightly since my phone has a slight pause between playing loops of a wave file. With the cut it plays back on my phone at about the same rhythm/spacing as in-game.

Edit: If my trimmed wave file isn't quite right for your phone, download the uncut, 16-bit PCM encoded, mono, 22KHz version to use and/or edit for yourself! If you're looking for a free tool to edit the wave file with I'd recommend the trial version of GoldWave.
