The Most Powerful Person in the World

Thuyen Nguyen, tired of the negative representation of video games in the media recently (and I can relate to that feeling), decided to create the below video in response; "a love letter to video games".

I don't know how non-gamers will take to the video but personally, having played the majority of those games, it certainly hits a sweet spot with me!

More information on the video, and a link to a HQ download version, are available on Thuyen's site.

MGS Codec Ringtone

Last weekend I changed the ringtone on my Nokia 6600 to the Metal Gear Solid Codec call sound. Doesn't sound too out of place as a ringtone to people who don't know the game but it certainly gets a reaction from those who do. :)

Here's the MGS Codec Call Ringtone wave file I made if you'd like a copy for yourself. It's GSM encoded, mono, 22kHz. It's had the volume bumped up since it was coming out much too quiet to start with. Also, I've cut the end of it slightly since my phone has a slight pause between playing loops of a wave file. With the cut it plays back on my phone at about the same rhythm/spacing as in-game.

Edit: If my trimmed wave file isn't quite right for your phone, download the uncut, 16-bit PCM encoded, mono, 22KHz version to use and/or edit for yourself! If you're looking for a free tool to edit the wave file with I'd recommend the trial version of GoldWave.

CoH, CoV and RSS Logos

I thought an RSS feed would be handy so I spent some time yesterday and today writing a PHP script to generate one from the site data already available. :)
